Things To Do In Minneapolis This Summer
Updated: May 30, 2019
The North has thawed, and it is finally almost summertime in Minnesota! Looking for something to do? Take a peek at some of my favorite warm weather MN gems.
1. Hang by a Lake
This one seems pretty obvious, as we are the land of 10,000 of these things, but it is almost so predominant, many people forget to just enjoy a day by the water. Hanging out in Minneapolis? Rent some water toys and hang out on Lake Nokomis, Harriet, Bde Maka Ska (Calhoun), or Lake of the Isles. Each have their own perks, but that is a post for another day.
2. Take a Walk By Minnehaha Falls
One of the most visited Minneapolis parks, and it is easy to see why. The stunning greenery makes you forget you are in the city, and the Falls are absolutely breathtaking. Fun Fact: The falls are actually the most photographed spot in the entire state! Want a bite to eat after all that walking and exploring? Grab some food at the ever-popular Sea Salt!
3. Farmers Markets
No matter the neighborhood, there is a Farmers Market near you! Feel good about supporting local businesses, while also getting some natural vitamin D. Many markets even have live music, events for kids, and more!
4. Head To A Twins Game!
Nothing says summertime like baseball! With games almost every day (at least it seems like it), there is always an opportunity to hang with some friends, grab a beer, and catch a ballgame. Bringing your kids? Make sure to look out for fun theme days!
5. Check Out Mills Ruins Park
Take a moment to step back in time at these old milling ruins. Not only is it beautiful, but it also gives you the opportunity to gaze at a stunning waterfall with the Stone Arch Bridge and the Minneapolis skyline in the background.
6. Rainy evening? Head to A Show!
Whether you want to see a big name show at the Orpheum, or a more intimate and unique experience at the Red Eye Theater, Minneapolis has you covered. There is nothing better than diving into the world of art, and MN is not short on options - no matter your preference!
