Neighborhood Series: Nokomis

To begin my Neighborhood Series, I want to shine light on the Nokomis neighborhood; my neighborhood. My family and I live in the Hale sub-neighborhood of Nokomis, and we absolutely LOVE it! Our neighbors are amazing, there are tons of parks and recreational activities, as well as our favorite neighborhood restaurants tucked away in this gem of a hood.

Why I Love Nokomis: Nokomis is located in the southeastern region of Minneapolis, best known for it's lake which it gets it's name (Lake Nokomis). The area is well-known for it's numerous outdoor activities including the Minnehaha Parkway, numerous parks, water activities such as paddle boarding, kayaking, sailing, etc. Nokomis is perfect for those who love the outdoors, a tight-knit community, while also having easy access to downtown.

Included Neighborhoods:

Diamond Lake

East Nokomis

Although these sub-neighborhoods have their own atmosphere and home style, Nokomis remains a tight-knit community, with close neighbor connections.

Quality of Life: Minneapolis as a whole prides itself on high quality of life, however, Nokomis is thought to have a higher quality of life compared to other MPLS neighborhoods. Although Nokomis is a little more tucked away than others, commutes and access to downtown are still relatively short and easy. There are plenty of bus and bike trails for those residents who choose to use public transit.
